The Show Will Go On! PAC’s Youth Theatre project extended
Following the success of its first series of online drama classes for children Pocklington Arts Centre has announced the continuation of its youth theatre partnership with Thunk-It theatre next month.
The all-levels Drama Sessions for Years 2-6 (ages 6-11) will be taking place 10-11amevery Sunday during term time on zoom from Sunday 25 April to Sunday 30 May.
The sessions, which include fun games, exercises, storytelling and much more, aim to encourage confidence building, life and social skills, creativity and positivity, giving children a space to express themselves openly and develop connections with other young people at this time.
During the six-week period, participants will collaboratively devise and create a short performance, which explores storytelling.
PAC director, Janet Farmer, said: “We are delighted to be continuing our partnership with local company Thunk-It Theatre to bring the joy and fun of the performing arts to children at this time. The classes that have been delivered so far have proved to be really popular, so we’re really looking forward to building on this success and eventually welcoming young performers through our doors for their classes just as soon as it is safe for us to do so.”
The youth theatre was born out of a free project Thunk-It delivered earlier this year, delivering similar sessions online to alleviate the stress of home schooling for young people and their parents and carers.
Becky Lennon and Jules Risingham from Thunk-It Theatre said: “We are so excited to continue building on the success of our first block of online drama classes and seeing this fantastic youth theatre partnership with PAC continue to go from strength to strength.”
