YO1 BEACH CLUB EXTENDS WEEKEND HOURS AND ADDS ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES FOR A CHILLED IBIZA VIBE!
York's residents and visitors can now head to the beach for fish 'n' chips and a wine or beer, or just soak up the Ibiza vibe, without having to go as far as the coast or endure a traffic jam! The newly opened YO1 Beach Club is extending its hours and adding alcoholic beverages to its offering on Friday and Saturday afternoons and evenings until 10pm during July and August, as well as Sundays 22nd and 29th August.
Located in Tower Gardens at the foot of Skeldergate Bridge, the YO1 Beach Club has become a popular destination for all ages since it opened in June, combining peaceful river views with all things beachy and nautical. The safe urban oasis comprises a wood-panelled covered café and veranda with a boardwalk entrance across a beach area with picnic tables, deckchairs, beach huts, surfboards, lobster pots and even a boat for kids to play in.
Visitors can sit and relax in a deckchair or at a table on the beach and welcome the weekend with a chilled glass of wine, prosecco, beer, cider, Pimms, gin or a cocktail. The non-alcoholic range of ales, lagers, ciders, wines and mocktails will continue to be served throughout the week as well as a full range of coffees from York Coffee Emporium. No glasses will be permitted over the bar, to keep the area safe.
Making the YO1 Beach Club an ideal and novel place for an evening meal, with or without kids, the open barbecue serves a choice of delicious grilled food, including tasty burgers, southern fried chicken, pizza and everybody's beach favourite – fish and chips. A kids' menu is available as are ice creams from Ryeburn of Helmsley, cakes, and beach treats and toys.
The YO1 Beach Club also provides the perfect solution for an original and exciting celebration - for adults, teens and children alike - whether it be a birthday, baby shower or family and friends gathering. A range of packages are available or can be tailor-made to suit a variety of occasions and budgets.
Maria Farrugia, Event Director of the YO1 Beach Club, said "We are delighted with how well our new addition to York's summer offering has been received, and are particularly pleased that everyone can now stay a little longer to enjoy the magical setting on weekend evenings. We'll have an Ibiza vibe going so without doubt YO1 Beach Club will be the coolest place to enjoy a summer drink. And on Friday and Saturday afternoons, and the last two Sundays in August, parents can enjoy a glass of wine or beer while their kids enjoy playing in the yellow boat or giant sandpit."
The YO1 Beach Club will be open from 9.30am until 6pm Monday to Thursday, and until 10pm on Fridays (except 3 Sept). On Saturdays the Club is open from 9am until 10pm (except 4 Sept) and on Sundays from 9am until 6pm, with extended hours until 10pm on 22 and 29 Aug. The YO1 Beach Club closes on 5th September. Entry is free and bookings are not required. The YO1 Beach Club is located in Tower Gardens, adjacent to the river at the foot of Skeldergate Bridge and just across Tower St from Clifford's Tower. The Club is named after its postcode YO1 9RZ. There is easy parking in the adjacent St George's Field car park.
