Bellway Homes marked the opening of its new Beverley site, Bishop's Gate by challenging pupils from Keldmarsh Primary School to get creative and design their dream home in an art competition.
Bellway's Bishop's Gate construction manager, Ian Robinson and sales advisor, Helen visited Keldmarsh Primary School on Monday to view the various entrants, crown the winners and give the pupils a unique insight into the process of building and buying a home.
Carol Tomkinson, headteacher at Keldmarsh Primary School said: "Ian and Helen offered an informative glimpse into the ongoing construction activities surrounding the homes of many of the pupils. The presentation was engaging and interesting and the children loved getting to try on high-visibility vests and hard hats."
Following the presentation, the winners of the art competition were announced. Bronte, Israfil and Johan impressed the judges with their exceptional creativity and were declared the winners of the competition. The winners' entries will be professionally framed and displayed at the Bellway sales complex.
"The children did a fantastic job, not only in thinking about their dream home, but also knowing about and incorporating eco-friendly elements into their designs. One child had drawn their house built completely out of waterproof bricks made from recycled materials," added Carol.
Speaking about the challenge, Bellway's Ian Robinson said, "We were delighted to be invited to Keldmarsh Primary School and were extremely impressed by the thinking and creativity that the children showed when bringing their dream home to life. Working with schools is part of Bellway's commitment to engaging with local communities and inspiring young people."
