From Coop to Classroom: Yolk Farm's New Initiatives Aim To Educate and Engage
Yolk Farm is proud to announce its latest initiative aimed at inspiring the next generation about the importance of food sourcing and sustainable farming practices. As part of their ongoing commitment to community engagement and education, Yolk are excited to introduce a series of events and programmes designed to connect children and families with the origins of their food. Additionally, the opening of the Tiddlywinks children’s nursery in Spring 2025 will be just another way to educate children on modern farm life. The nursery will have space for 75 children and is currently being built on site. Vacancies for local jobs are also available.
Yolk Farm has always been dedicated to engaging with the local community through a variety of events and programs. The upcoming Half Term Hen School is just one example of how Yolk brings families together to learn about sustainable farming and the importance of knowing where food comes from. By offering hands-on experiences and educational activities, Yolk aims to foster a deeper connection between the local community and the food they consume.
The Half Term Hen School will offer children an educational farm experience allowing them to learn about the Yolk hens and get hands on, sorting and grading the daily egg haul with Yolk’s Farmer. The session will also include a craft activity and access to The Yard; Yolk farm’s indoor play and learn barn. Running daily at 10am and 11am, from 8th - 23rd February; https://www.yolkfarm.co.uk/
"We are incredibly excited to welcome children to Tiddlywinks Nursery and the Half Term Hen School," said Emma Mosey, Owner at Yolk Farm. "Our goal is to inspire curiosity and a love for learning about food and farming, helping to shape a future generation that values sustainability and healthy living."
‘’It’s incredibly exciting to see the nursery nearly finished on site at Yolk Farm. Right from the offset there has been a huge amount of interest in the nursery from local families, which is testament to the work Yolk has been doing since it was founded. To be able to expand our business in such a unique and hands-on educational setting really is a dream come true and we are so excited to open our doors in Spring 2025’’ adds Tracey Roberts, Director at Tiddlywinks.
