Free Family Activities This September at Woolwich Works
Woolwich Works invites families to discover a season of stories, laughter and adventure this autumn, with two free festivals to help ease the transition from summer to back to school.
First up is Brassworks (5th September), the street brass festival and carnival of horns, celebrating all kinds of brass music with a parade through Woolwich and live music in the courtyard throughout the day. Experience traditional brass, jazz brass, Afrobeats, New Orleans funk and more! Plus take part in a kazoo workshop and join in the parade or try your hand at the tuba or other brass instruments in a variety of workshops throughout the day. All ages welcome – no previous experience necessary.
The following weekend the fun continues with the annual Woolwich Carnival (12th September) as the venue explodes with colour. Crafty kids can also help make decorations and props for the carnival and parade with free workshops happening leading up to the carnival (26th August and 2nd September).
Looking ahead to October, kids won’t want to miss the magic of The Museum of Marvellous Things (11th October). With giant puppets, magical effects, interactive storytelling, live original music and the chance to make your own special puppet, the show is based on the picture book by Kristina Stephenson (creator of Sir Charlie Stinky Socks).
