Join Promiseworks as a Volunteer Mentor for Somerset’s Youth
Do you enjoy making connections? Can you give 2 hours weekly/fortnightly?
Promiseworks, an inspirational charity since 2017 is looking for volunteer Mentors across Somerset. Supporting vulnerable children and young people, by establishing positive connections. Using Bowlby’s attachment theory, that recognises that by building a secure, positive relationship, you can aid resilience and enhance mental wellbeing. Transforming the path of the young person and equipping them with valuable life skills, helping them to feel safe and secure. Each relationship is unique with its own mentoring journey, facilitating an environment in which a young person can foster a sense of self-worth.
It can be as simple as a walk in your local park or a more structured activity like bowling. Each Mentor receives a monthly allowance to spend with their mentee, creating memories together. 95% of the children and young people who have a mentor, have said that it has helped them, increasing self-esteem, reducing feelings of loneliness and isolation and improving relationships with friends and family. Each Mentor is fully supported by an Area Co-Ordinator and receives 4 days training to ensure they are fully prepared to mentor.
