School of Skate News Update

Skateboarding a GCSE subject in Wales and NI

Skateboarding has been introduced as a GCSE PE subject in Wales and Northern Ireland due to its popularity, and in no small part due to the fact that it is now included in the Olympics. It is expected to be introduced across the rest of the UK in the near future. Similar to sports such as gymnastics and ice skating, points are given for the difficulty of tricks landed and how well they are executed.

Skateboarding in Paris Olympics 2024

Skateboarding features in the Paris Olympics with Street taking place 27th - 28th July and Park 6th and 7th of August. Qualifiers for the Park discipline include Skateboard GB riders Lola Tambling, Andy Macdonald and, of course, 2020 Olympic bronze medalist Sky Brown.

You can learn to skateboard at School of Skate’s purpose-built facility in Copeland Park, Peckham. The facility is installing a zip line, one of the first in the UK, to assist with learning skate park style tricks. You can join affordable group lessons, private classes, organise parties, and skate camp will run throughout the school holidays, where you can drop the kids off or stay and work from the viewing gallery WiFi.
