Blast Off into Space with The Smeds and the Smoos this October Half Term!
Looking for an out-of-this-world theatrical treat for the family? Head down to the Southbank Centre’s Queen Elizabeth Hall, where the Olivier Award-nominated stage adaptation of The Smeds and the Smoos is ready to transport young theatregoers on a thrilling intergalactic adventure!
Brought to life by the acclaimed Tall Stories, this joyful show is based on the beloved picture book by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler.
The story takes place on a distant, colourful planet where the red Smeds and the blue Smoos strictly keep to their own kind. They certainly never, ever mix! But when a young Smed named Bill and a Smoo named Janet fall in love, they decide to zoom off into the cosmos together in a rocket ship. Can their warring families set aside their differences, join forces, and travel across the galaxy to bring them back home?
Bursting with irresistible music, catchy original songs, playful puppetry, and plenty of cosmic laughs, this 60-minute adaptation delivers a vibrant, action-packed experience for little ones aged 3 and up. Beyond the laugh-out-loud fun lies a heartwarming message about unity and love conquering prejudice.
Forming a key highlight of the Southbank Centre’s London Literature Festival, The Smeds and the Smoos offers ideal, accessible family viewing for the autumn school break.
Wednesday 28th October – Sunday 1st November. Tickets from £22; book online at southbankcentre.co.uk
