Visit IWM London this October half term for a free-to-attend family festival celebrating the art of storytelling.
Join in on Sunday 25th and Monday 26th October 2026 for the Big Story Festival at IWM London. Bring the whole family and discover the power of stories through free drop-in activities, or purchase tickets to talks with bestselling children's authors like Dame Jacqueline Wilson and Tom Palmer.
Take part in free illustration workshops with Will Hughes and learn how to turn your imagination into drawings. Younger visitors can take part in free Play and Sing sessions, or your family can book a guided tour of IWM's Galleries, discovering the incredible stories behind the objects on display.
The festival is inspired by IWM London’s major exhibition, Childhood in War (open until 28th February 2027). This free exhibition is an interactive exploration of how children have experienced conflict from 1914 to the present day. Through personal stories, immersive displays and hands-on discovery, you can explore how war affects everything from school and play to home and health.
Nearest London Underground and rail stations are Lambeth North (7-minute walk), Elephant and Castle (10-minute walk) and Waterloo (14-minute walk).
