Bluebell Railway is getting ready for another exciting year of events, including ice skating in the locomotive shed this February Half Term. Don’t worry! Display engines, like Stepney, will still be tucked up nice and warm inside the shed and be available for visitors to step aboard and explore.
Road meets Rail takes place between 28 and 30 May.Set at Horsted Keynes Station in the heart of the countryside, step back in time and enjoy vintage fairground rides and see huge steam tractors, ploughing engines and road rollers busy at work. Look out for Miniature Monday!
In the summer between 29 and 31 July, Stepney’s friend Fenchurch, who will be 150 years old this year, will star in a special birthday gala. His friends will come from other railways to chuff up and down the line and show the big engines that terrier engines are small, but mighty!
The locomotive engineers are busy restoring Fenchurch’s boiler so he can make steam and are tidying up his motion so he can turn his wheels smoothly. He will then have a new coat of paint to match his pal Stepney – very smart!
Visit Bluebell Railway by car or train. At Sheffield Park Station near Haywards Heath there’s lots of free parking, disabled parking and electric car charging points. Alternatively, you could travel by a modern main line train to East Grinstead Station and walk 2 minutes to the Bluebell Railway Station to continue your journey by steam!
