Summer Reading Challenge 2024

East Sussex libraries are calling on children aged 4 to 11 to read six books over the summer as part of Summer Reading Challenge 2024: “Marvellous Makers!”. The Summer Reading Challenge is developed by The Reading Agency and delivered in partnership with public libraries. This year’s theme has been developed in partnership with Create, a leading charity bringing the creative arts to those who need it most.

The Summer Reading Challenge aims to keep imaginations moving over the school holiday. By participating in the challenge at East Sussex libraries, young people have the opportunity to explore new reading material, develop their creativity, and discover new interests. For each library book read, children will receive stickers and other prizes. After reading six books they will earn a certificate and a medal!

Children can read any library book, including fiction, non-fiction, picture books or books they share with parents and carers. E-books, e-audiobooks also count towards the challenge.

Free events will also be taking place at East Sussex libraries to encourage children to get creative and have fun.

The Summer Reading Challenge runs from 6th July to 7th September. For more information on the challenge and to sign up visit www.eastsussex.gov.uk/src
