Slindon College, near Arundel has won the Independent Schools Association (ISA) Award for Excellence and Innovation in Mental Health and Wellbeing 2024. Headteacher Sotiria Vlahodimou said: “We are thrilled to receive this recognition of the simply outstanding mental health and wellbeing support we provide our pupils with. As a purposefully small school this Award is all the more meaningful to our talented and passionate team.”
A key initiative that helped secure this win for Slindon College is ‘Learning Energy’, a new concept developed by the College’s specialist Learning Support Team. The ISA judges said: “Slindon College have innovated with a new way of encouraging pupils to self-regulate and also self-calibrate their Learning Energy. This is an exciting scheme which deserves to enter the mainstream. Slindon College is at the forefront of excellence and innovation in promoting Mental Health and Wellbeing and is a sector leader.”
The College also has its own Mental Fitness Team that runs a range of initiatives including weekly Woodland Walks, a ‘time to talk’ programme and daily reflection time.
