Athel’s Town: Saxon Encampment and Reenactment

Visit for a weekend full of the sights, sounds and smells of early mediaeval life - truly immersive and action-packed free, family days out! Don’t miss the Saxon warrior parade over Kingston Bridge at 12 noon on Saturday 26th July as they beat their passage with shields and chants to Canbury Gardens and into Athel’s Town.

Explore the year 925 in Regia Anglorum’s living history encampment where you can see life from over a thousand years ago! Enjoy Saxon battle demonstrations, storytelling, games and crafts throughout the weekend.

Find out about age-old crafts, skills and trades at Kingston Museum’s Saxon Fayre, back by popular demand at Canbury Gardens with lots of free family fun. With over 30 community stalls, farm animals, falconry displays, music, beekeeping, flax growing, tapestry-making and - a working Saxon Forge - there’s plenty to keep all ages entertained!

You can join the Saxon Warrior parade into Kingston by booking one of four Shield Drumming workshops to prepare you for the March! (Further information on the website below).
