Spring Sounds: Unite in Rhythm – An Intergenerational Musical Journey
In Kingston, where community bonds harmonise with creative sparks, Spring Sounds: A Day of Music & Discovery by the Kingston Music Service beckons on Sunday, March 22nd 2026. This free event at Kingston University’s Stirling Prize-winning Town House, supported by Arts Council England and delivered in partnership with the university’s education and performing arts departments, transforms the space into a welcoming hub of sound and connection for all ages.
At its heart is the intergenerational workshop and performance of Terry Riley’s minimalist masterpiece In C (1.15–3.15pm). Open to everyone – from children to grandparents, beginners to pros – this inviting session lets you learn simple motifs in a supportive group, culminating in a mesmerising, ever-shifting soundscape. It's an unforgettable experience of unity, where generations blend voices and instruments in joyful improvisation.
Young musicians (Grade 3+ up to 18) won't want to miss the Timelapse (by renowned British composer Michael Nyman) workshop and performance (3.30–5.15pm). Rehearse pulsing rhythms and perform this cinematic gem in a massed ensemble – a thrilling challenge that builds skills and camaraderie.
From hands-on tasters to creative workshops, Spring Sounds fosters inclusive discovery. Register free at springsounds.co.uk (required for entry) and join the symphony. Create lasting memories together!
