They might not be able to guarantee a white Christmas, but Bellway Homes has ensured that pupils at Skelton Primary School will have a cracking festive send off – having donated 400 Christmas crackers to be opened during the school’s Christmas dinner on December 22nd.

The homebuilder, which is currently building in the market town, made the donation when it heard the school was on the look-out for a cracker for every one of its pupils so their hotly anticipated Christmas dinner could start with a real bang.

Paula Murdoch, Bellway Homes’ sales manager, said: “A Christmas dinner really isn’t complete without a cracker beside every plate. The jokes may not always be that funny, but the excitement of opening them, popping on the colourful crown and seeing what toy you’ve got is one of the loveliest Christmas traditions.”

Sarah Walker, headteacher of Skelton Primary School, added: “The traditional festive dinner on the last day of term is always one of the most anticipated events in the whole school year – and we’d all like to say a big thank you to Bellway for its donation and giving our Christmas a cracking start. I just hope that I get the end with the hat and joke in when I pull my cracker with the deputy head.”

Being built off Skelton’s Bowland Road, Bellway’s Castlegate development comprises 140 spacious three and four-bedroom detached and semi-detached homes, all of which are perfect for growing families. And with the development being in the catchment area for Skelton Primary School, it’s likely future intakes of pupils will include an ever-growing number of pupils living in one of the new Bellway homes.

“We aren’t just here to build and sell homes, our aim is to create a new community that will sit perfectly with the rest of the town,” added Paula. “And with so many family homes on the development, I’m sure it won’t be long before the gardens, green space and play area on Castlegate will be alive with the sounds of a new community coming to life.”

Prices on Bellway’s Castlegate development range from £179,995 to £204,995 for a three bedroom, semi-detached home. All of the homes on the development come with their own private garden and either a garage or off-street parking.
