The National Museum of the Royal Navy Hartlepool is ready for visitors this festive season, with the recreated Georgian Quay specially decorated for the occasion. Enjoy a special gift and meet Santa Claus, discover the stories of infamous pirates, and explore HMS Trincomalee, the oldest ship in Europe still afloat. Tickets to the museum last for a full 12 months, so visitors can return come rain, shine or anything in-between at no additional cost. Young visitors will get the chance to meet Santa and his elves at the grotto, where he's eagerly collecting letters and pictures to take back to the North Pole. Santa has chosen a special gift for each child to take home with them, alongside a hot chocolate and activity. This experience is happening on the 14th, 15th, 21st, 22nd and 23rd December 2024, tickets cost £8.50 per child, and all visitors will also need a valid museum ticket to attend. National Museum of the Royal Navy Hartlepool, Horrible Histories® Pirates: The Exhibition As fans of the books, stage-shows and TV series will expect, 'Horrible Histories® Pirates' takes a funny and foul look into pirate history, complete with parrots, cutlasses and all the gore and more. Throughout the hands-on exhibition there will be opportunities to design pirate flags, visit a raucous pirates' tavern, take out enemies with cannon fire and command a pirate ship on the high seas. Young scallywags can also learn the rules of the 'pirates' code', delve into the often-gruesome history of pirate ships and their infamous commanders (both male and female) and they'll have to practice talking like a pirate too or risk a trip to Davey Jones' Locker.
