Red House School, an independent school in Norton, is celebrating a double award win after being recognised for its commitment to pupil wellbeing and inclusion. Together, these nationally recognised awards highlight the school’s joined-up, whole-school ethos, which places emotional wellbeing and inclusive practice at its heart.
The school has been awarded the Silver School Mental Health Award by the Carnegie Centre of Excellence for Mental Health in Schools, building on its previous Bronze accreditation. The award reflects Red House’s proactive approach to supporting the mental health and emotional wellbeing of every pupil. Initiatives include a dedicated ‘Zen Den’ space, mindfulness embedded within the curriculum, and opportunities for outdoor learning, all contributing to a supportive environment where children feel safe, valued and ready to thrive. Red House also shares its expertise with local schools through its Red House Round Table events, where best practice is shared with teachers and support staff.
Head, Dr Rebecca Ashcroft, said:
“We are incredibly proud to have achieved the Silver School Mental Health Award. This recognition reflects the genuine care and commitment of our whole school community. Supporting children’s emotional wellbeing is fundamental to their success, and we remain dedicated to ensuring every pupil feels supported, confident and ready to thrive in school and beyond.”
In addition, Red House School has once again achieved the Rainbow Flag Award, a national quality assurance framework recognising its ongoing commitment to LGBT+ inclusion, visibility, and creating a safe, supportive environment for all members of the school community.
Dr Ashcroft added:
“Creating an inclusive environment where every child feels valued and respected is at the heart of everything we do. We are incredibly proud to have this recognised once again.”
The school thanks key staff for their dedication, including Mrs Lindsay-Symington, Director of Wellbeing and Pastoral Care; Mrs Nicola Cooper, Wellbeing Lead (Junior School); and Mr Barnbrook-McKay, Nursery & EYFS Co-ordinator.
Red House School prides itself on offering a close-knit community where every child is known, supported, and able to flourish. With a strong focus on wellbeing, inclusion, and individual development, the school continues to welcome families who are looking for a nurturing and ambitious learning environment.
Families interested in finding out more are warmly invited to request a prospectus or arrange an individual tour to experience the school first-hand.
