Join Just One Tree Day this autumn to help reforest the planet
Children from hundreds of schools across England, including those of Seend CofE Primary School (pictured) in Melksham, are taking part in a charity non-uniform day on Fri 14 Oct where pupils pay £1 towards planting a tree. Just One Tree Day aims to show children and young people how the smallest action such as this small gift can help plant a tree, make a difference in the climate crisis and help biodiversity.
As well as wearing their own clothes children take part in lessons designed to educate them about the environment, biodiversity and the aims of Just One Tree Day. These lessons fit within the national curriculum and are available to any school signed up to take part, with free learning resources supplied by the organisers of the event.
Just One Tree is a non-profit organisation that aims to lower greenhouse gas levels by replanting woodlands, jungles and forests globally. “Just One Tree Day was born out of my commitment to make a difference, not only for my young daughter, but for the future of all children,” says the charity’s founder Amanda Bronkhorst. “Climate anxiety is a very real issue with many of today’s youth, but the message I want to convey is we can all make a difference, and one way of doing this is by involving our young people.”
