It almost goes without saying that this is a confusing time for all of us, particularly children.  Fortunately several trustworthy organisations have created resources and information tools in several different formats for a variety of ages that could prove useful.  If there are any other resources that you have been using that you have found useful, let us know by emailing lisa@writeplacemedia.co.uk

Playmobil has released a short lighthearted video explaining more about the virus and what measures need to be taken - see below.  Please note that this was originally created for an American audience and contains some guidance about going to the supermarket with children that is no longer valid.

 

The BBC Good Food website has created a suite of family-friendly activities including this guide to how to talk to your child about coronavirus

'Every Mind Matters' the Public Health England and NHS project to help empower people to manage and improve their mental health has launched a brand new section giving advice on how to maintain your mental wellbeing in the current climate

The NSPCC have released a series of articles to support parents during this time including tips on working from home.

Children's charity Kidscape has a great guide to supporting your family through extended periods of isolation including supporting sibling relationships, whole family activities, advice about routines and tips about how to keep in contact with friends and family outside the household

Publishers Nosy Crow has released a free downloadable book with illustrations by Axel Scheffler explaining the current situation to younger audiences.

Fellow Julia Donaldson collaborator Lydia Monks has also released an illustrated online explanatory book which has been made available on the Twinkl website

The excellent Booktrust website has put together this list of suggested children's books based around mindfulness, happiness and wellbeing.

Dr. Ranj has recorded a special podcast aimed at children which aims to be informative and reassuring

CBBC Newsround has compiled a special Coronavirus minisite which contains helpful and entertaining videos and is frequently updated

Hey Sigmund has a useful article containing general advice on how to talk to children and teenagers about difficult world events, not just those relating to the current situation.

The Children's Commissioner has released an official publication aimed at children 

Children's mental health charity 'Young Minds' has written a blog post about reassuring confused and scared young people

The government has released online education resources that are useful for parents and children.
