Cheltenham Science Festival goes online for a feast of brain-teasing fun
With schools still likely to have limited opening and many pupils still home schooling this June, parents, teachers and kids will be delighted that the much-loved Cheltenham Science Festival returns for six days of online fun, education and stimulation from Tuesday 2 to Sunday 7 of June.
The annual event, known for attracting some of the most popular and entertaining figures from the scientific firmament, hosts a range of family shows featuring the likes of Stefan Gates, Jamie Gallagher, Katie Steckles and the irrepressible ‘Sky at Night’ presenter Maggie Aderin-Pocock.
For children and adults who want to learn more about the cosmos, television presenter and physicist and Brian Cox teams up with Jeff Forshaw to present an exclusive, live-only event (Tuesday 2 June 7pm) featuring Brian Greene from the World Science Festival, Astronomer Royal Martin Rees and fellow scientist and presenter Jim Al-Khalili.
Elsewhere, scientific bartenders Mark Miodownik and Andrea Sella explore the perfect cocktail daily at 5pm; while things get anarchic with a hyper-nerdy pub quiz ‘UniverSilly Challenged’, all leading up to the Festival Finale with Robin Ince and Josie Long’s ‘Cheltenham Shambles’.
