It’s Twist, but not as we know her

Spring brings an ‘Unexpected Twist’ to Everyman Theatre, Cheltenham, with Michael Rosen’s inventive merger of ‘Oliver Twist’ and his own modern-day tale (18-22 Apr). The former children’s laureate introduces us to Shona, a new girl at school, who gets wrapped up in mobile phone-related mysteries with some boys she meets, drawing modern parallels with the historic story.
In August, as well as the magical ‘Dragons and Mythical Beasts’ (3-5 Aug), and the ageless ‘Winnie The Pooh’ (31 Aug-2 Sep), there’s ‘Sarah & Duck’s Big Top Birthday’ (7 Aug), which happens to be the CBeebie’s hit’s 10th anniverary. Sarah and Duck plan the ultimate circus soiree for their friend Scarf Lady, in this Karrot Entertainment production, which features favourite characters including The Ribbon Sisters, The Shallots and Umbrella.
And look out, too, for Everyman Summer School, whose dates are Mon 31 Jul-Fri 4 Aug (ages 8-12) with Everykid (ages 4-7) dates coming soon (see Scoop, P5).
