Welcome to The Library Challenge
Travel through time, explore the library, and earn rewards!
The Library Challenge is back for another year, and will run from 11th July to 12th September. There are lots of fun, interactive activities waiting for you! You can try them on your own, or team up with friends, siblings, or grown‑ups.
Complete tasks and earn free rewards. Show your activity in any way you like - write it, draw it, stick things in, or add photos. It’s your time‑travelling story, so make it your own!
While borrowing books is always encouraged, it is only one of the ways you can complete each challenge. Attending a library event, drawing or building something, going for a walk, watching an educational film… you can choose how you reach your goal.
Participants receive a reward at each stage: Bronze, Silver, and Gold. Children who climb all the way to Gold also earn a chance to win additional prizes!
The challenge is free to take part in any time during the summer with a library membership and is suitable for children aged 3+. If you are not already a library member, you can sign up for free at gloslibraries.uk or by visiting any county library.

This year’s Library Challenge theme is Tales Through Time, delving into the past and the stories that bring history to life.
The Library Challenge Map features six different zones, travelling throughout time and illustrating over 30 historical eras and themes that libraries across the county will be drawing inspiration from this summer.
