Journeys Festival International: Where Creativity Brings Communities Together
This October, Journeys Festival International celebrates the power of community, connection and the different journeys that bring us together.
Throughout the festival (17th – 25th October 2026), you'll discover inspiring art installations, family-friendly creative activities, powerful performances and so much more—all focusing on the importance of shared experiences to build a more connected community.
Across multiple venues in Leicester city centre, everyone is invited to experience the festival in their own way. Whether you want to get creative, try something new or simply enjoy the atmosphere, there are plenty of opportunities for families to join in and explore.
Family-friendly highlights include The Hideout by Hikapee, a playful theatre show combining circus, parkour and storytelling about making new friends. Children can step into CARE / REST / PLAY by artist Jasmine Smail, a series of sculptural installations exploring how telephone boxes have connected communities. Families can also visit the Creative Hub, run by Mission Magpie at Highfields Shopping Centre, for free creative workshops throughout the festival.
