Help the Wyvern raise money for a specialist loo!

The Wyvern Theatre in Swindon is appealing for funds to pay for a specialist lavatory which will make its 'Jack and the Beanstalk' pantomime even more families this season.

It hopes to install a Mobiloo, a fully attended vehicle complete with an adult-sized bench and a hoist, providing those with disabilities a more accessible and dignified facility than many fixed toilets can offer. There are over a quarter of a million people in the UK whose needs are not met by a standard accessible toilet, often meaning they have to choose between staying at home or risk injury or infection by using a regular accessible toilet. The Wyvern Theatre wants to help eliminate this occurrence this Christmas.

“We’re so excited to see the return of our annual pantomime next month and want to involve as many families as possible in our celebrations,” says Kate Claxton, the theatre’s community and education officer. “I’ve been working closely with the fabulous Mums on a Mission [campaign group], Swindon, to find ways to make our relaxed performance of Jack and the Beanstalk even more accessible for our local community, and a Mobiloo would make a huge difference for many. We now just need a little help to raise the money.”

The theatre is seeking £495 to install the facility in time for the relaxed performance of the panto on Friday 10 December at 1pm.
