Enchanted Gardens Light Trail Returns to Swindon
Swindon families can experience some festive spirit as they explore the Enchanted Gardens Light Trail that returns to Town Gardens, Swindon next month between Fri 2 and Sat 31 Dec. You can walk through the gardens that are decorated with an array of light sculptures, low-level soundscapes, interactive illuminations, and a special light show in the historic Bowl.
The festivities are organised by South Swindon Parish Council, Brighter Futures, Prospect Hospice, and ShopSmall Swindon. Over £25,000 was raised at Enchanted Gardens Light Trail 2021 by the parish council and Brighter Futures for Great Western Hospital’s Urgent Treatment Centre. Brighter Futures is running a raffle and selling Christmas stocking fillers.
Alongside the trail, raffle, and stocking fillers there are a wide range of independent stalls selling locally produced Christmas gift ideas thanks to ShopSmall Swindon.
Every Tuesday throughout the event the local children’s author Kate Claxton hosts storytime sessions for children at the Gardens’ bandstand. This is a chance to hear her read her new book, Searching for a Roarer.
Commonweal School, Kitty Langan Studio Performing Arts School, Swindon Gilbert and Sullivan, and Rising Aspirations Academy of Performing Arts are among the other organisation and performers that can be found at the event.
The chair of leisure, environment, and amenities for the parish council, Neil Hopkins says “We are delighted to be working with so many great local businesses and individuals. It’s fantastic that we are able to utilise so many great local people to create an even more spectacular trail for South Swindon this year.”
Tickets for the event cost £11 for adults, £6 for children aged 5-17, and children under 4 go free. The tickets are available online from the website linked below. Parking is also available for £2 at Commonweal School and Sixth Form with all money raised from parking being donated to Prospect Hospice.
